I would love to hear all your stories about purchasing your own house .. from the beginning, first house checkout to the very end when you got the keys... all the issues with realtors/loans/inspectors ...

Looking for a house is really exciting! Congrats on that decision! As far as the 1st question goes, most realtors ask you to sign a buyer's agreement w/ them so that you can't have more than one realtor... @ least that's how it goes in NC... I'm assuming CA is the same. You should do some searching on your own too @ www.realtor.com to get an idea of what you like... then go see all the houses you really liked online & trust me, you'll know when you find the right one. I would suggest that you see @ least 4-5 before making an offer but you will probably be able to see a lot more than that since there's so many homes for sale in the Stockton area. I will look into the other questions for you since Jon's dad & stepmom own their own realtor business. Hope this helps! I'll give you a call when I have the other answers!
Oh & you don't get charged a fee when you're buying a house for the realtor unless you buy a "for sale by owner" house.... The seller's agent has to split their commission w/ your buyer's agent so that should all be taken care of by the seller's... :)You can always ask the realtor you call though just to be sure but you shouldn't get charged for that!

congratulations on looking for a new home!! It is so exciting.. I remember when we were looking for a home. it was 7 years ago.. we did not use a realtor so I don't know much of the answers to the questions. I agree with Amie that you will know when you have found the right house. So how are things going with you? I am doing fine.. we had a wonderful vacation in Costa Rica for 9 days..
